SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre offers a combination of experiential and classroom learning opportunities for school age children. Many of our programs have been designed to meet science curriculum outcomes at various grade levels. Our programs are inquiry based and align strongly with core competencies.

School classes and community groups are encouraged to book one of our education programs. We can work with teachers directly to adapt programs to meet specific curriculum outcomes. Custom programs can be designed.

Sea Stars and Friends has been selected as the district based program for 2023-24.

OCEAN SCIENCE EXPERIENCES

We will be offering exciting new and updated experiential ocean science lessons for schools in the 2023-24 school year. These lessons are accessible to all grade levels and adapted to meet science curriculum outcomes and align strongly with BC’s core competencies at each grade level.

VISITS DURING COVID-19

Our education team is excited to be able to safely welcome back students to the aquarium. We have worked directly with Vancouver Coastal Health and School District 46 to modify our program delivery with COVID-19 protocols that meet all BC Provincial Health guidelines.
